This course introduces a structured and clinically practical approach to personalised SWL protocols, focusing on how to move beyond generic settings and apply controlled, evidence-informed decision-making during treatment.

You will learn how to design and execute a complete SWL session using defined treatment phases, including renal safety ramping, stone sensing, fragmentation, and optional dusting. The course explains how to safely utilise the full available energy range of your lithotripter and how to adjust parameters based on stone size, density, location, and patient-specific factors such as BMI and age.

Special emphasis is placed on:

• Understanding safe energy boundaries for pediatric and adult patients
• Applying gradual and controlled energy ramping strategies
• Adapting protocols for kidney versus ureteric stones
• Managing complex scenarios such as high-density stones, obese patients, and high-risk populations
• Making real-time intra-procedural decisions based on treatment response
