Urolithiasis Guidelines Overview
About Lesson

Urolithiasis management is guided by multiple international recommendations, yet translating these guidelines into daily clinical practice remains a challenge.

This course provides a structured and practical overview of the major global guidelines, including European Association of Urology (EAU), American Urological Association (AUA), National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), and International Alliance of Urolithiasis (IAU). Rather than simply presenting recommendations, the course focuses on how these guidelines can be interpreted, compared, and applied in real clinical scenarios.

A key highlight of this course is the urologist’s perspective—understanding how experienced clinicians evaluate a stone beyond textbook definitions. This includes assessing factors such as stone size, location, density, patient profile, and clinical context to make informed treatment decisions.

You will learn how to:

  • Navigate similarities and differences across major guidelines
  • Interpret guideline recommendations in practical scenarios
  • Understand decision-making from a clinician’s point of view
  • Bridge the gap between evidence-based recommendations and real-world treatment strategies

This course is designed to help you move from knowing the guidelines to confidently applying them in clinical practice, improving both treatment selection and patient outcomes.
